Mahdlo Gets Funding for Future Zone

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing funding for our Future Zone project through the RBS Skills & Opportunities Fund – THANK YOU to everyone who voted for Mahdlo and showed support during the selection process.

Mahdlo is one of eight not-for-profit organisations in the North of England which will receive a share of over £1m from the Skills & Opportunities Fund later this month,  chosen from over 1,000 applicants in total! The fund seeks to support community and charity initiatives that help people achieve qualifications, get into work or set up their own business, now or in the future.

We will use the funding to run three courses as part of our Future Zone project, aimed at increasing the confidence and aspirations of young people aged 13 to 21. There will be Changing Futures (employability and enterprise for young people aged 16+), Choosing Futures (working with Year 9 students) and a Weekly Job Club.

Mike Doran, interim Chief Executive here at Mahdlo, said: “This funding is a fantastic boost for Mahdlo. It will enable us to support even more young people from Oldham to make positive choices about their futures. The Future Zone project will increase aspirations, support skills development and prepare young people for the world of work, through exploring and experiencing achievable opportunities.”

Thom Kenrick, Head of Community Programmes at NatWest, commented: “We are delighted with the response to our new Skills & Opportunities Fund and pleased to support such fantastic local community organisations with much-needed funds to help their projects get off the ground or expand even further.”

Steve Mawdsley, Head of Mid Corporates at NatWest, said: “https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png is a fantastic organisations which offers vital support to young people who live in and around Oldham. We look forward to seeing how the funding will help to give people the skills and opportunities to build better lives and stronger communities.”

We can’t wait to launch Future Zone later this year!
