Our ‘If I Can Dream’ performing arts summer school may be over, but it’s only the beginning for creative young people from across Oldham! Those who took part in the summer bootcamp are now rehearsing for what promises to be an amazing showcase of talent – The Event, 6th September. Through this and upcoming activities, existing and new Mahdlo members will get the chance to work with the team behind Mahdlo’s brand new Get Creative programme.
Tracie Ross, the new Arts Coordinator at Mahdlo, started her career on stage as a child performer and worked on cruise ships, in holiday centres and even at Disneyland before returning to the UK to take up Music and Artiste Management. Having managed a girl band for 7 years, and graduating from the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Tracie is looking forward to giving the young people of Oldham the opportunity to share, develop and celebrate their talents.
Mahdlo members on the summer school have benefited from working with industry professionals like Mark Stuart Wood, a working actor with many credits to his name who also wrote and directed the world premier ‘If I Can Dream’ musical at The Lowry in 2013 and also reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
Joining the team and getting everyone moving is Joe Bradbury (pictured above), a young dancer whose natural talent secured him a place at the Renaissance Arts College in Leeds when he was 16.
Keeping everyone on song will be Oldham’s Daniel Winters, Musical Director and Vocal Coach. Daniel has worked in the music and entertainment industry for many years, both as a performer and as a studio engineer.
The new Get Creative programme will also include exciting new projects in Music Production, Filmmaking and TV Drama with Oldham based OliBo Media; arts and crafts; radio projects; a ‘beauty school’ and more!
