Last week, five Year 6 groups from Oldham schools came to Mahdlo to compete in the Commando Joe’s finals tournament. They were competing for the Commahdlo Trophy as the five school groups with the fastest qualifying times in Commando Joe’s sessions throughout the year.
The aim of the competition is to further raise awareness of Mahdlo and Commando Joe’s, what we do, how to get involved and to bring together the spirit of Oldham’s community. This competition was set up for every Primary school in Oldham to take part in.
The competition works on full class participation linking together the key values of teamwork and confidence. Commando Joe’s brings one of its inflatable assault courses to each school which is set up along side an improvised assault course consisting of tyres, agility ladders and hurdles which the whole class have to get round in pairs and are timed doing so as a class.
The competition time will start with the first class member and stop on the last. All results will be entered into the leader board and at the end of the competition the overall fastest time wins the coveted ‘COMMAHDLO TROPHY’ to be displayed in that school’s trophy cabinet.
This fantastic competition has been delivered in over 60 of Oldham’s Primary schools over the course of 2014, with the finals being held here at Mahdlo.
Well done to all the schools who competed in the finals: St. Anne’s CofE, Royton; St. Mary’s RC, Failsworth; Hodge Cloud, Oldham; SS Aidens and Oswalds, Royton; St. Joseph’s RC, Shaw!
The overall winners on the day and the school to take home the Commahdlo Trophy – SS Aidens & Oswalds (pictured) – congratulations!
The great work of Commando Joe’s will continue into 2015, so watch this space!
