Another Oldham fundraiser has risen to the Mahdlo #GiveFromHome Challenge! Mahdlo supporter Dave Lowe will be undertaking a heavy weight challenge to raise funds for the charity.
The ‘Strongman At Home’ Challenge will see Dave doing 150 widths of his own back garden, all while carrying an 80kg sandbag. As a comparison, that’s about the equivalent of carrying around an adult kangaroo!
It’s the latest effort from local fundraisers to support https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png during the Coronavirus outbreak. Oldham resident and long time Mahdlo supporter Ruth Major (@RubbishRuthRambles) raised more than £700 for the Youth Zone, by running her own version of the national 2.6 Challenge.
Ruth walked 2.6km along her corridor at home in two sets of 26 minutes, every single day for 26 days. In total Ruth managed to cover more than 100km during her challenge.
Lucy Lees, Deputy Chief Executive at https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png said: “It’s fantastic to have another fundraiser join with our Give From Home campaign. We have been so grateful for the generosity our Oldham community has shown during this difficult time – we’ll be supporting Dave all the way on his heavy lifting challenge!
“The current lockdown has meant that Mahdlo has been forced to cancel all of our fundraising events for the forseeable future so the support by amazing people like Dave and Ruth is more important than ever before.”
