Two Oldham fundraisers will take on the 40 mile long Oldham Way Challenge in less than 24 hours to raise vital funds for https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png.
Shaun Knowles and Frankie Byrne will tackle the mammoth walk, which is usually done over two days, this Saturday (20th June), setting off at 1am from High Crompton and finishing the full circuit before midnight the same day.
Throughout the day the intrepid fundraisers will pass through some of Oldham’s well known country parks including Tandle Hills and Daisy Nook as well as taking on local landmarks such as Pots and Pans, Hartshead Pike and Brushes Clough.
The walkers are taking part in the challenge as part of Mahdlo’s #GiveFromHome campaign, which is encouraging as many people from the Oldham community as possible to support the Youth Zone through the Coronavirus lockdown, by taking part in fundraising activities from home.
Lucy Lees, Deputy Chief Executive at https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png, said: “It’s testament to the generosity and ingenuity of our Oldham community that we have yet another innovative fundraiser backing Mahdlo’s goal.
“Since the start of lockdown Mahdlo has contacted each and every one of our 4,000+ members to ensure we’re doing everything we can to support them through these unprecedented times.
“Fundraisers like Shaun and Frankie ensure that we’re able to continue to expand our community outreach, meaning more young people receiving social distance visits from youth workers, and more vulnerable families being offered the support they need. We cannot thank them enough.”
