Staff members from local hospitality business Wilds of Oldham have challenged staff with a series of fundraising challenges, with the aim of boosting https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png’s ‘Get Back in the Zone’ campaign.
The campaign, which will see a group of generous Mahdlo patrons matching pledges and donations made until the end of August, has captured the imagination of the Oldham business community, raising more than £13,000 of their £50,000 target so far. Funds raised from the campaign will be used to replace Mahdlo’s minibus, which was stolen earlier this month, as well as ensuring that the charity can continue to provide vital services and activities to young people in Oldham.
Led by Managing Director Andrew Wild, and with a promise to sponsor any out of the ordinary fundraising activities, staff at Wilds of Oldham have jumped at the chance to support Mahdlo.
Andrew Wild, Managing Director at Wilds of Oldham said: “I challenged the office staff here at Wilds, that if they did something out of the normal, I would sponsor them and send the money to Mahdlo. It’s now a talking point within the office, and creating a bit of a buzz!”
“Annie & I have been really moved by the work of Mahdlo over the last few years and have been very proud to have it as our preferred charity.
“Being an Oldham based company supplying the hospitality trade, we have felt the impact of the Covid-19 crisis as much as anybody, but we appreciate that there are children within the borough whose families have suffered more than we have as individuals. This is where the work of Mahdlo is so valuable to Oldham. I want to say well done to Mahdlo on their brilliant work – we only wish we could afford to send more!”
So far, Wilds of Oldham staff have pledged to take part in; a 14 mile walk to work challenge, a 50km week of walking, a 35km cycle to work, and a fitness challenge taking on 100 squats, sit ups and press ups in a week.
Claire Crossfield, Fundraising & Events Manager at https://www.mahdloyz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Design-our-minibus.png, added: “The generosity of the Oldham community has absolutely shone through during our Double Your Donation campaign. We have received so many messages of support alongside pledges and donations and Wilds of Oldham have played a big part, spreading our message among their staff.
“I want to say a huge thank you to Wilds for their continued support – we can’t wait to see what fundraising ideas their staff come up with!”
