Our Mentoring Programme celebrates success with another fantastic ‘match of the month’!
Callum Gordon (mentee) and Karen Flowers (mentor) were matched in April. Karen and Callum meet on a weekly basis and Karen is supporting and motivating Callum to overcome challenges. Already Callum has a new found confidence. Following a trip to ‘Wheels For All’ – a cycling session aimed at people with a disability – Callum said it was one of the best experiences of his life.
Callum, when asked what Mentoring means to him, said: “enjoying new things, makes me feel good and smile. I can talk to Karen about anything.”
Karen said the benefit to her as a Mentor is that “it means having the opportunity to meet and support a young person with their life journey and situations.”
The Mahdlo Mentoring Programme celebrated its first birthday in May this year and currently has 43 matches. With lots of our young people looking to benefit from having a mentor, we are now seeking more fantastic volunteers who are able to give a couple of hours a week to make a huge difference to a young person’s life.
