Winners of minibus competition announced
With over 600 entries to our ‘Design the Minibus’ competition, the Mahdlo team and our judges had an incredibly hard time choosing a single winner whose design would adorn the Mahdlo minibus.
Presented with 20 finalists, our judging panel consisting of Mahdlo chief executive Lucy Lees, patron and business leaders Robin Eglin from OMC Ford and Claire Gardner from Osborne Delta, and Sign UK’s Steve Hufton spent a large part of their day discussing each entry and the fabulous designs created by the young people of Oldham.
Reaching a final five entries after lunch it started to get difficult, and the judges agreed that no single design was the outright winner. Two joint winners were chosen and the Mahdlo team set about notifying the winning schools and making arrangements to unveil the design to the winners.
Sign UK stepped up to the task of wrapping the minibus with the winning designs, and in less than two days they’d transformed our boring white bus in to an incredibly striking vehicle!
The two winners of the competition are:
- Ihasaan Ali from Holy Cross Primary School who designed the yellow and grey overall colours, complete with Mahdlo logo on the sides and our contact information on the back, which the judges thought shouted Mahdlo perfectly and would make people stop and look at the minibus.
- Ameena Bibi from The Hathershaw College who was the only entrant to include a map on their design, which the judges thought was a brilliant addition and showed where Mahdlo is and how it benefits the community. Ameena also included a rainbow design on the front of the minibus, which we used to promote the Mahdlo “Get” themes.
Each winner received an iPad for themselves, free Mahdlo membership and free session vouchers for their class, and everyone who entered received a free session voucher.
The winning classes also received a free activity day at Mahdlo, where the whole class can make use of our facilities including our arts areas, sports hall and kick pitch and much more!
