At Mahdlo Youth Zone we support our members to try something new and step out of their comfort zones all the time.
But they need your support and guidance to become the best they can be.
By volunteering at Mahdlo, not only do you give back to the community by making a difference in young people’s lives, but you also get to develop your skills in a lively setting and have a great time doing so.
Our passionate volunteers generously give their time to support and make a positive difference to the lives of young people. The diversity of their backgrounds means they bring a wide range of skills, experiences, abilities and interests.
Our volunteers help us to support and empower young people, creating a world of opportunity, by:
Mentors offer weekly 1-to-1 support, guidance and assistance in dealing with any difficulties a young person may be experiencing.
Sport specialists provide the support systems young people seek, such as teamwork, loyalty and belonging, identity, and a shared purpose.
Activity workers create an environment for young people to socialise, engage and access information and development opportunities.
Arts specialists offer a diverse blend of visual and performing arts activities that give young people the chance to express their creative talents.
Fun trips with young people to evening pickups in the local area to delivering food and drink to families. Our minbus is used almost daily, and we're always looking for extra people to be able to drive.
We rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses in Oldham to keep our doors open seven days a week. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who loves to network!
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help prepare and sell hot and cold food and drinks to children and young people.
Our reception team welcomes members and visitors and help solve problems in this wide-ranging and varied role.
We're a small team and our office is lively and fast-paced, there's always room for more support on our projects.
Finance volunteers will be assisting our office based team.
Every role is involved in supporting young people to grow and develop, even if you’re not working directly with them! If you’re looking to develop your skills and experience, learn more about youth work, or spend your time in the office or on the phones, we have a volunteering role that’ll fit you.
If you’re aged 16 to 19 (or up to 25 with additional needs) you can become a Young Leader!
We’ll help you develop leadership and communication skills, and it is a great opportunity to work with like-minded people and meet new friends! We are always looking for young people who are interested in volunteering, fundraising, offsite trips, and social action.
