About

Our Story

Mahdlo is a registered charity based in the heart of Oldham, delivering exceptional youth work in our purpose built facility the town centre and through outrech in the wider communities. Through exciting, enriching activities, we give them the chance to build confidence, develop new skills and create brighter futures.

We are open 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year and offer an exciting range of activities and opportunities that all young people from across Oldham can access for just 50p as a member.

Imagine a place where you felt safe, supported, and inspired. A place that believed in you even when you doubted yourself. A place just to be young and have fun. For thousands of young people in Oldham, Mahdlo is that place. For the last 12 years, Mahdlo has been a vital lifeline for young people, providing somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Open for all young people, they are supported by trained, trusted adults who listen on their terms. We offer more than just activities, we offer hope.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities to raise aspirations and support young people to reach their full potential through the delivery of high-quality experiences, ensuring youth voice is a golden thread in shaping everything we do

We PRIDE ourselves on our values:

Passion, Respect, Inclusion, Dependability, Excellence.

Our work falls within six key themes: Get Active (Sports); Get Creative (Arts); Get Sorted (personal development, crime prevention and health and wellbeing); Get Outdoors (outward bound and environmental activities); Get Connected (leadership, volunteering and citizenship); Get Ahead (employment and enterprise).

Our Mission

To deliver high quality activities and experiences for young people from Oldham aged 8-19 (25 with a disability) to enhance the quality of their lives and provide support services for those who need additional help to achieve their potential.

OnSide and the Youth Zone Network

We are part of the OnSide Network, a growing group of youth centres we call Youth Zones across the UK, developed by the charity OnSide with the same mission, to provide young people with the opportunity to shine and fulfil their potential.

Between us we support tens of thousands of young people nationwide. As the OnSide Network grows together, it works together. We support each other by sharing ideas, learning from each other about what works for young people and by championing the power of youth work locally, regionally and nationally.

Over 50,000 young people are members of OnSide’s growing Network, currently in areas including: Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Bolton, Blackburn, Carlisle, Chorley, Croydon, Manchester (Harpurhey and Gorton), Oldham, Warrington, Wigan, Wirral and Wolverhampton.

We are proud to be part of a Network that has been putting young people and their needs first for over a decade. It’s inspiring. It’s empowering. And it works.
